This website comprises a complete set of DSM-IV criteria
for all currently used mental disorders. The criteria are a simplified
version that I wrote for use by mental health professionals as well as
patients, relatives, and other lay people. The criteria are taken
directly from my book, DSM-IV Made Easy, published by Guilford
Press. To my knowledge, this site is the only one on the web to publish a
complete set of diagnostic criteria.
My book discusses all the adult disorders and illustrates their use
with vignettes of over 120 patients. It is available from book stores,

To speed access to the criteria, I have divided them into 11 sections. Just
below, you can select which of them you want to review. Note that bulleted
criteria are mandatory -- they must be fulfilled before the individual can
receive the diagnosis. Criteria preceded by a check mark (-) are part of a
check-list: usually, several of them from this list must be fullfilled for
diagnosis.
The bare-bones criteria often don't tell the whole story. To learn how to
apply them requires the explanatory material contained either in the official
DSM-IV or in my book, DSM-IV
Made Easy.
